Hello from Mississippi
From last night:Where do you begin??
I guess the easiest place is to say that we arrived safely, and that we go to bed tonight a group of people who feel blessed and challenged and overwhelmed at times, and grateful, and knowing that we are in a special place.
Today:
Due to lack of time at a wi-fi zone, I will have to limit words and photos for now, but suffice it to say that the image you see here sort of sums it up. Unbelievable.
This is a casino/barge that had been anchored in the Gulf. It tore from its moorings and ended up across a 4-lane highway and on top of a hotel. We saw miles and miles of such images. War zone is indeed an apt description.
Rev. Moses, our host, has reminded us that our work will be "ïn increments" so as not to overwhelm us. We needed that reminder.
Today we embark on four different work teams to four locations. We don't know yet our assignments, and have been reminded that our work can and will change often. But we are happy to be here. Blessed. Filled with humility. How can it be otherwise?
